[KOREAN TV STOP WITH THE BLACK FACE SKITS]
This isn’t the first time there have been black face used on Korean TV and I doubt it would be the last time.
It seems like no matter how much people complain, they still carrying on with their stupidity. Why is it so hard for them to understand that black face isn’t acceptable and please don’t tell me its all down to ignorance because that’s a bunch of bull. And even if it was due to ignorance, I will not take that as an excuse. You should never accept ignorance. Ignorance is evil.
And the way they depict Africans on some of the shows is disgusting…It’s like watching a show from the 50s. We are shown as nothing but savages and I know that the Korean media won’t stop with these blatantly racist skits because as long as the audience is laughing why would they need to stop? (they don’t care about us)
And to you fan-girls always saying “Oppa didn’t mean it” when he does or says something racist SHUT THE FUCK UP AND ACCEPT THAT YOUR OPPA DID SOMETHING PROBLEMATIC
Here are some more example
Kikwang from the band B2ST “eating like a black person”
Here are some articles talking about black face
smh, so much for solidarity.
there’s no such thing as poc solidarity because anti-blackness is global
Lol Finally they cry about something other than a white person
People don’t seem to understand that not everywhere is in the United States. You go to certain places in Europe, and what we deem super racist may not be that racist to them. Pretty much what’s happening here: what’s deemed extremely racist in the US/other western nations apparently isn’t in South Korea. Get over yourselves.
I don’t think you don’t seem to understand that anti-blackness is a global phenomena; so let’s not use this “us-centric” strawman in order to dismiss Black people’s critiques of racism imagery. It’s fallacious and you know it. They know damn well that’s it’s racist, but they don’t care.
I’ve read stories of Black people experiences in Korea and let me tell you something, they’re treated like monsters, creatures, don’t you dare insinuate that “what isn’t racist here isn’t racist there” yes it is, it most certainly is. anti-blackness is alive and well in Korea. How dare you make excuses for it?
I’m so sick of anti-blackness that it makes me sick, I’m sick of excuses, I’m sick of Black people always having to lift other PoC’s burden but we get no assistance’s ourselves and anti-black sentiments continue to exist, world-wide.
"US centric" is so fucking annoying; I’ve rarely seen people use that term or similar terms and not undercut Black people’s experiences, like you just did here.
